The 2012 Alabama Cup Whitewater Slalom Canoe & Kayak Races on the Locust Fork River and Mulberry Fork River are upon us.  The Alabama Cup Racing Association needs many volunteers to make each race a success.  Volunteer jobs include: Gate judging, Starting, Timing/scoring, Cooking, Manning the merchandise table, Manning the entrance gate, etc…

EXPERENCE IS NOT NECESSARY.  Volunteer training (optional) will take place at January 31st at The Birmingham Botanical Gardens EAST Room at 6:00 pm.  If you are unable to attend training, first time volunteers are usually paired with experienced volunteers.  We need help at all three races, but the greatest need right now is for the first race, the Locust Fork Invitational.  Bring a friend and spend the day or weekend on two beautiful tributaries of the Black Warrior River!
There are two shifts we need to fill on Saturday and Sunday for each race:

• Morning shift is approximately 9:00am - 12:00pm
• Afternoon shift is approximately 12:00pm - 3:00pm

1st Race -February 4 & 5 2012 - Locust Fork Invitational
Kings Bend north of Cleveland, AL hwy 79/231 just north of the whitewater section put-in.

2nd Race March 3 & 4 2012 - Mulberry Fork Canoe & Kayak Race
Garden City, AL just over the Blount/Cullman County line

3rd Race - March 24 & 25 2012 - Locust Fork Whitewater Classic
Kings Bend north of Cleveland, AL hwy 79/231 just north of the whitewater section put-in

Camping is available at all three races .  Snacks and water will be supplied for volunteers and additional food will be available for purchase.  FREE “race crew” T-SHIRT for all volunteers working two shifts or more.  Don’t miss this opportunity to stay a day or an entire race weekend on some of the most beautiful private property in the area!!!!!!!!
